Springing Attention Spans

Up at 3 am contemplating the depths of my mind, forever grateful for my past experiences I realized…. my ability to stay present is powerful.

Soooo. who else is overstimulated, over worked, feeling disconnected. Its okay… breathe and lets chat about it.

Breathe 1……

Breathe 2…….

Breathe 3……..

Lately it feels like our attention is being pulled from every angle.

There is so much too care for but a lack of energy to care. We really are becoming Poly Consciousness, a researcher said when asked about the impact of the internet. Our consciousness is being split in half by digital and physical realities.

One simple problem —— We touch our phones more than 2500 times a day—— What the heck are we touching anything that much for and how does it impact us?

Touching Anything 2500 Times A Day Is Bananas

This spring I want to challenge my readers to make conscious effort to limit your screen time.

By doing this you will challenge yourself to stay present and place your attention elsewhere..

Below are four easy ways to limit screen time :)

  1. In the morning do not scroll

  2. At night do not scroll

  3. When you are walking outside or driving do not scroll

  4. During a conversation do not scroll

The Power of Your Attention

Our attention is so powerful they created algorithms to keep you focused on an app for several hours a day. Think about it this way…..our attention has an impact on our mood, physique , and ability to critically think. Right now algorithms control how masses of people think and act. Now with AI taking a whole chunk of jobs and education; we have to be careful not regress mentally.

The steps below will help you maintain and increase your attention span.

  1. Take different routes home without your phone.

  2. Journal Your Daily/Weekly/Monthly Thoughts

  3. Meditation helps with quieting the mind and brings presence

  4. Go to in person events without your phone

  5. Learn and Read something new every week

  6. Write your goals with a pen or pencil on paper

  7. Remember that the only thing real is the present

  8. Control what you can and if you cannot move on

  9. Never allow temporary thoughts of anger to become permanent

  10. Fear can arise from a lack of belief and action

This spring I want to focus on being present.

I want to smell the roses and pluck them, I want to feel the rain on a Tuesday and appreciate the sun on Wednesday.

Every moment and every experience should be appreciated with my presence .

Being present is the only thing that is real.
